Like it or not, the guy struck out 2.82 per 9 innings. From a guy who was over 11 in AAA, that's a serious drop off. His BABIP last year was an astounding .204. A normal good one is somewhere in the .260-.280 range, and you don't generally see a consistent pattern from year to year when it comes to BABIP. The fact that it was as low as it was tells me that he benefitted from good defense and some luck behind him last year, and if he lets that many balls in play again this year, his ERA is likely to take a sharp hike.
