The White Sox have just a seven game lead over the Indians. These teams have six games facing each other. Is it possible the Sox can blow it as they are famous for?

Possible? Yes. Is it going to happen? No. They are going to blow it in the first round of the playoffs though, I'll tell you that. Those aliens are after those ChiSox.

I have this crazy feeling Cleveland's going to make things interesting.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.
The Sox have to do very little to get into the playoffs, so if they don't get there, it's a huge disappointment. After that, the Sox have the pitching and defense to succeed in the postseason, so all that's left is for the bats to get hot. If that happens, it'll be a wild ride on the south side.
I think it ends up about 5 games apart. Sox lose in first round too.
I aim to try

Indians and White Sox have basically the same remaining schedule but I hope it comes down to the last series. Baseball needs another White Sox choke.
I have to disagree...I think baseball needs another Yankees and Red Sox chokeOriginally Posted by love_that_reefer

Anyway, a lot of the problem the Sox had in August was a tough schedule combined with Scott Podsednik being on the DL for a good portion of the month, and the pitching staff not holding up to their previous standards of excellence during that time. Since Podsednik's return, the Sox have scored 5, 6, 8, and 12 runs after averaging somewhere between 2 and 3 runs in August. As long as the offense can produce some runs (much more likely with Podsednik in the lineup), the defense and pitching will be able to carry this team a long way.
I would like this to come down to the final series for the Indians and Sox as well. But it would be nice if the Sox were the victors. It would be too dissapointing to see this team that has been so awesome throughout the year falloff at the end. Come on Sox, its all you!
theyre 9 back no i think...that's a lot...
All I know is, it is September and the White Sox have a 9 1/2 game lead in their division.
Could they blow it? Maybe. But I think it is unlikely given the team is built around sound fundamental baseball and solid pitching as opposed to the big gun offense and mediocre pitching their last division winning team was built on.
As for Cub fans wishing us ill will, I can only say
THE GOAT LIVES!
Eat that, you north side choking dog yuppie scum.
Don't perpetuate their psychological crutch. They need to someday just accept the fact that their team just flat out sucks, rather than relying on a "curse" as an excuse for a century of suckage.
Yeah, this division race is over, the White Sox can't possibly blow it anymore.
