The All-Star game is like the Grammys to me...a joke. The fans vote in undeserving players all the time. Then the coaches are forced to add a player from each team so every team is represented. That is something out of a player's control.
Excellent point Provi. Many players missed out on all star opportunities due to its popularity contest voting system.

The Big Hurt was an underachiever in his 30's by his earlier career standards, but unlike a Kurt Warner (for lack of a baseball comparison), there's not a gaping donut hole in Thomas' career stats log, and Thomas didn't get his milestones by being a compiler like Cal Ripken Jr. The Big Hurt belongs in the Hall.
I guess for Thomas' sake, it's not like he was a 190 lb back in 1990 before randomly inflating to 250. I have a feeling he won't get voted in the first year, as older voters will not take into account much of the modern hitters... at first. 2nd year, I would say he gets in.
Not taking the voters into account, he's a Hall of Famer.
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
Barney: Circle gets the square!

The all-star game is a big flaw for MLB. Im sure there would be some uproar if they took it out of the fan's hands, but after a season or two the average fan would realize how much better the game would be.
Anyways, Thomas is a no-brainer. But like said above he might not get in on the first ballot.
Thomas is one of the few White Sox players in my generation that I actually respect. Dude was solid.
