Cubs announced the retirement of outfielder Marquis Grissom.
Grissom hadn't earned a roster spot by hitting .200/.256/.250 in 40 at-bats. The Cubs were probably going togo with Angel Pagan for the final spot on their bench, though Michael Restovich also remains in camp. Grissom, 38, finishes his career with a .272/.318/.415 line and 429 steals in 8,275 at-bats over 17 years. The two-time All-Star is one of six players in major league history to record 2,000 hits, 200 home runs and 400 stolen bases.
