With his persistent arm troubles, and no telling if that's ever going to stop in the near future, is it possible Kerry Wood is following suit of Tom Gordon? Or maybe going the wayward path of John Smoltz for a couple of years?

That would be the best case scenario. But recently, arm problems have really sapped quality pitching talents. I've managed to catch Wood pitch in relief a couple of times and he has looked very good. If he can't stay healthy, switching him and Dempster's roles might be worth a shot.
