I do like Arietta and Strop, and of course the international cash. Hopefully they can both figure things out and contribute to the big league club soon.

He's shown flashes of being really good (and really bad). He was a top 100 prospect for a few years. 3 years of control. Eh..

I just don't think Arrieta has any value. The value is within the international thingy and fixing Strop's control to possibly replace Gregg if he's dealt.

And it was for Feldman. The guy isn't exactly going to net you a lot in any situation.

Strop has been pretty good so far. Sveum said he'd probably go with him as closer if/when Gregg is dealt.

And as I reread this thread, Kingdom is spot on so far. However, I still think Arrieta is a good pick up for the Cubs.

Just to be a dick, Arrieta has a 3.77 era and a 1.22 whip in 5 starts for the Cubs, Kingdom. Too many walks, but still.

Personally I'm hoping they trade him and sell high.Cubs pitching coach Bosio is a miracle worker. Maholm, Dempster, Garza, Feldman, Samardzija, and Hammel. Cubs have gotten a lot of good prospects thanks to him. Hopefully Arrieta joins the list.

I've read that his peripherals indicate that he's made quite the adjustment and that he isn't pitching out of his mind right now.

Marmol is a completely different story. It was only a matter of time until hitters started laying off the slider. Which consequently showed that Marmol couldn't locate his fastball either.
