Ted Lilly will take his space in the rotation. They'd better hope the Carlos Silva Experiment keeps going this well.

Hummm, so, now I either keep Zambrano for his strikeouts... as a flippin' long reliever, or I go out and pick up someone else. Sucks.
You know what else sucks? Milton Bradley's OPS that's under .700. Advantage.. Carlos not insane Silva.
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?

Wow never saw this one coming. I wonder how he feels about it. Dude has to figure something out though. He could be dangerous in a closer role though. Still, I think they ultimately would want him back in that rotation.
Talk about a guy who has fallen. He used to be mentioned along with the top starters in the league.

Punchouts are still there, 26 in 19 IP. He's been a bit wild, and hittable (especially with giving up the longball)... but this seems premature, especially when Silva hangs on to his spot. The dude did post a 3.77 ERA last season...
Z did go on record that he would be more calm this season so maybe the Cubs are looking to piss him off. Get the old blood boiling again.

Im in shock, but I doubt it lasts longer than a week. I mean, Z hasn't been terrible this year outside of his first start. My bet is that he will pitch two games in relief, and head back to the rotation.
Theres no ****ing way this sticks.

I tend to agree, but then again, with your ace why wouldn't you just say this is temporary? Maybe not put a time frame on it, but it seems silly to act as if Z will stay in the pen, especially with the cash he is paid.

They should have waited before making this decision. Gorzelanny has only started two games, his last start was only 3 innings against the double A Astros. Wells and Dumpster you keep, obviously, and you ride Silva for as long as humanly possible but Gorzelanny has the potential to be a far greater weak link than Zambrano, and he's only had half the starts to prove one way or the other.
However, could anyone picture if Marmol fails, they turn to Zambrano to be a closer? Holy crap, that would be entertainment.
