    Cubs Playing Like Its 1908!

The Cubs have the best record on June 1st for the first time since......1908, the last time the Cubs won a title. The Cubs have a very good chance to do it this year with a well balanced team. They have a good offense and good pitching. Seven of the eight starters are hitting .285 or higher!! Zambrano and Dempster have ERAs under 2.80 and the bullpen looks good too. I think the Cubs have a great shot and if history is on the Cubs side, we might just see the a World Series trophy on the north side of Chicago.

They have been playing some awesome ball. Players like Dempster and Zambrano have really been carrying the rotation which has been quite the surprise early on.Also the bullpen has been doing great with Kerry Wood being a surprise as the main closer. Yes he has blown 4 saves , but he has respectable numbers in a 2.93 ERA and 14 saves. Carlos Marmol has filled in for Wood when needed and also has been stellar. Only blowing 1 chance in 5 tries and he has an ERA under 2.
The hitting has also been amazing with the usual cast of Lee, Soriano and Ramirez, but players that have really stepped it up like Ryan Theriot who is hitting close to .300 and can swipe a few bases, Kosuke Fukodome who just may be in the running for the R.O.T.Y. award in the N.L., Mark Derosa who is hitting around .300 and the fine catcher Sota has been hitting as well. This team if they can add another quality starter to there rotation and maybe a Ted Lilly to step it up a bit could make some series noise down the stretch.
