TORONTO -- You can't blame the Blue Jays for trying to make Rogers Centre a more enjoyable place for fans to watch a game. But the Red Sox -- particularly center fielder Johnny Damon -- would like to see one of the improvements (the Plexiglas color scoreboards in left- and right-center field) made safer.
In the second inning, Damon went back to the wall on a drive by Blue Jays first baseman Eric Hinske. On what wound up a double, Damon cut his left elbow in the dividers of the scoreboard, which are part of the outfield wall.
He stayed in the game until the bottom of the ninth inning, at which point he left to get six stitches in the elbow. Damon isn't sure if he'll be able to play Saturday afternoon.
