Hi-jacking this idea from multiple boards including the Reds and A's, this is just a place to throw out a random comment, a vent, whatever when you think it. I figured I needed something to use when I just want to talk, so here it is!

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.
Well, I'm officially on the Red Sox DVD set bandwagon, now to beg my parent/grandparent/relatives shamelessly to get it for me for my birthday or Christmas. I'd just love to have that stuff on DVD for a long, long time. Too bad there's no ALDS, that was a nice series.

You mean the 2003 playoffs? Aaron Bleeping Boone?

...2004. You can have the first three games of the ALCS though.

Remlinger still sucks. Oh well, they won, I'll deal with it.

NESN extends Remy's contract through 2010
The New England Sports Network has extended the contract of Red Sox color analyst Jerry Remy through the 2010 season.
“We believe Jerry is one of the best color analysts in the major leagues and we wanted to ensure he would remain on the NESN team for many years to come,” said Sean McGrail, NESN president. “We are very fortunate to have such a talented broadcaster, and a true ambassador for the network and the Red Sox organization.”
Remy has served as NESN’s Red Sox color analyst since 1988 when he teamed with legendary play-by-play announcer Ned Martin. Now in his 18th season, Remy has broadcast over 2,300 Red Sox games. The Somerset, Massachusetts native grew up a Red Sox fan and remains very accessible through personal appearances, his own website, and his weekly Q&A feature on NESN.com
---------------------------
Great, fantastic, gloriously good move. Remy's one of the best in the business and he makes the games fun without an unbearable bias, go NESN.

Congrats to Roberto Petagine for getting his first major league HR since 1998 in a game versus the White Sox today

Is Petagine like another Morgan Burkhart?
Not sure. What's Burkhart's legacy (I know he was a BoSox a few years ago, but I'm not familiar with his history). Petagine, after the 1998 season with the Reds (where he was a decent backup 1B), he went to Japan and crushed the ball over there for a bunch of years. He was signed by the Sox this year and got called up a little while ago for Olerud.

In that case, both are similar. Burkhart was a journeyman 1b.
Schilling needs to be the mopup guy at this point...he's not pitching well at all.
He has struggled extremely recently, but have you followed Curt's comeback trail? At one point, over a ten game stretch, his ERA was in the low-ones. Don't forget he had several starts prior to the pen stint where he blew chunks, and from his first game to the series v. Texas, he had lowered his ERA by almost three runs. In July he had a 3.55 ERA in relief and proceeded to pitch 5.2 IP with 1 ER until the Chicago series. He's had a string of poor games, but he's still their second best RP, and I'm not sure how indicative the Tigers game was. Chicago sure, but that was a natural SP (who I still think can be an RP)'s 3rd straight day on the mound.
