With
Prince Fielder signed, sealed and delivered to Detroit, agent Scott Boras can now give his undivided attention to
Edwin Jackson, the top free agent left on the market along with fellow righthander
Roy Oswalt.
While Oswalt is believed to have lowered his demands to a one-year deal, Jackson claims to have three or four multi-year offers, Peter Gammons
tweets Monday.
FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal
tweeted Saturday that Jackson has multiple offers for three-year deals, should he and Boras decide to go that route. The other option is to take a one-year contract and return to the open market a year from now with the hopes of cashing in then.
The Red Sox need an innings-eater because
John Lackey will miss the entire 2012 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Jackson fits that bill, having logged no fewer than 199 2/3 innings in any of the past three seasons despite pitching for four teams during that span.
