It is very refreshing to hear an athlete have a necessary surgery right after their season ends. Seems like every single offseason in every sport some dickhead waits months and months to have a surgery and isn't ready for the beginning of their season. Get it done, rehab and be prepared to go on day one. You get paid ridiculous amounts of money to play and you owe it to your team to be ready. I would also like to take this time to commend Pedroia for toughing it out and playing 159 games this season. He will definitely get some MVP votes.Dustin Pedroia will undergo surgery on Friday to have the surgical screw removed from his foot.
The procedure comes as no surprise and should not affect his offseason regimen. Pedroia batted .307/.387/.474 with 21 home runs, 91 RBI and 26 stolen bases in 159 games played this season.
