Joining Jed Lowrie on the DL will be Rocco Baldelli.

Nick Green, signed as a minor league free agent in January, was batting .240 in eight games as Lowrie's replacement. Shortstop Julio Lugo, recovering from right knee surgery, planned to begin a rehabilitation stint Tuesday at Triple-A Pawtucket but the game was rained out.

The Red Sox placed outfielder Rocco Baldelli on the 15-day disabled list after he strained his left hamstring Monday in a win over the Baltimore Orioles and recalled Jeff Bailey from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Baldelli is batting .231 in 13 at bats. Bailey was hitting .255 with four homers in 47 at-bats at Pawtucket.

I hate that Baldelli is always injured, cause he seems like a great personality for any team.

Rocco will be fine, this was more of a precaution than a bad injury, we have the depth so no reason to risk a serious injury at this pt in the season

Not only is Baldelli a great personality, he's also a great bat and glove for a team. It really is a shame he's always hurt

Baldelli has always been a tad overrated in my books in terms of a ceiling, but these injuries are really sad to see as it is very unlikely he'll ever mature his skills to where they could be had he been healthy and growing as a player over these past few seasons. Little injury or not, it interrupts any flow he might have been working toward.
