Jed Lowrie will undergo wrist surgery on Tuesday, according to Sports Illustrated.
Lowrie will be lost for six-to-eight weeks. Red Sox manager Terry Francona hinted at surgery as a possibility earlier on Monday, although he didn't commit to any course of action at that point. This puts Lowrie's return at mid-to-late June if the report is accurate. Nick Green will continue to fill in a short until Julio Lugo returns within the next week or two.
Not too big of a loss since he wasn't able to hit because of this injury so it had to be done. Green getting two more weeks at SS does scare me. Lets hope he can recover from wrist surgery a lot better than Derek Lee has.
