Boston heads off to Astros land to face off against the Houston Astros who have been not so good this season. The Redsox have just come off a 3-3 home stand which is just mediocre for them at home.
Game 1: Matsuzaka vs. Hernandez: Dice K was just awful in his first performance back from the D.L. posting his first loss of the season. He only lasted 1 inning and allowed 7 earned runs. Hernandez hasn't faired to well all season long posting a 6-10 record with a robust 6.48 era. He has been horrible in his last 3 starts.
Game 2: Lester vs. Backe: Jon Lester has pitched well in his last 4 performances winning 3 of the games and getting a no decision in his last. Backe has posted a 5-8 sub par record with a 4.82 era and he won his last outing , but was not really impressive.
Game 3: Beckett vs. Moeller: Josh Beckett has been pitching well of late , but lost his last outing against Dan Haren 2-1. He hasn't pitched the same as in 2007, but is generally capable of shutting down any team. Moehller out of the 3 pitchers that are going in this series for the Astros has pitched the best with a 4-3 record and a 4.03 ERA.
Outlook: With the way the Astros have been playing and this series the Redsox do not have to face Roy Oswalt it looks good that the Redsox can get the broom out on the Stros even though the Sox don't play that well on the road.
