Pedroia named AL Rookie of the Month; Player of the Week
Well, Dustin's been on absolute fire since the beginning of May as the patience of Francona and his willingness to let Dustin play despite Cora's hot streak is paying HUGE dividends right now.
The Official Site of Major League Baseball: Official Info: Press Release
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who hit .415 (27-65), has been voted American League Rookie of the Month for May, while Houston Astros outfielder Hunter Pence, who led all rookies with 19 RBI, has earned National League Rookie of the Month honors.
Pedroia hit six doubles, two home runs and drove in nine RBI. The 24-year old compiled a .600 slugging percentage and a .472 on-base percentage over 21 games played. He is currently in the midst of a 13-game hit-streak. Dustin is hitting .336 with two home runs and 16 RBI during the 2007 season.
Very nice, Sox are two-for-two in RotM awards, with Okajima getting it in April.
Also
Pedroia today was named ... AL player of the week for May 28-June 3.
For the week, Pedroia batted .609 with six doubles and six RBIs in six games against Cleveland and New York. Sox righty Daisuke Matsuzaka won the AL's weekly honor for May 14-20.
Kudos to one of Theo's earliest and best draft picks!

Re: Pedroia named AL Rookie of the Month; Player of the Week
sounds like this rookie is living up to expectations so far. i would imagine it is easy to relax a bit more on that team, than it would be on other teams (see Alex Gordon-Kansas City Royals).
Congrats to him though!!!!
