Who would you pick after Markelle Fultz?

Seems to be a forgone conclusion that Fultz is going to the B̶r̶o̶o̶k̶l̶y̶n̶ ̶N̶e̶t̶s̶ Boston Celtics.

Between the next two point guards in pecking order, Lonzo Ball and De'Aaron Fox, Lonzo is the superior passer, rebounder, and shooter, but is only steady paced and if you're the Lakers, adding him to a backcourt with D'Angelo Russell isn't going to make the worst defense in the league any better, unless the plan is to jettison Russell and replace him with somebody who can partner with Ball to provide stability on defense. De'Aaron Fox, on the other hand, has the speed and athleticism and defensive potential to be the #1 or #2 overall pick, but he's a project with shooting, so do you really want spend a lottery on a point guard who can't shoot?

Then there's Josh Jackson, Jayson Tatum, and the other guys. It'd be fun to look back who would emerge at the top of the list when redrafting this class.

i think josh jackson is the closest thing to a guarantee... no matter what, his defense translates. i still probably go ball at 2... if not for his daddy, i think the conversation for number 1 is a bit closer than it is in this instance, but i dont think you can go wrong with jackson.

I admit as a Lakers fan I haven't given much thought to Jackson, with Brandon Ingram already in the mix I doubt they will double down with a swingman this year. I've flipped flopped between Ball and Fox, and while I wouldn't mind having a lockdown defender at the point, it's not going to turn the team defense around overnight, whereas a ball facilitator can have that impact on offense. So, Ball, reluctantly.

Celtics traded down from #1 to #3 and picked up an additional 1st rounder, either the 2018 Lakers' pick or the 2019 Kings' pick. If the Celtics are loading up on picks to try to trade for Jimmy Butler, then you would think they had tried to trade the #1 straight up for Butler but the Bulls probably wanted more than just Fultz.

ugh. i was almost talking myself into them passing on monk or smith for ntilikina. this is twice as bad. i wont mind if they pull off the zinger for jackson deal. i love porzingis, but we all know 7 footers with leg problems... meh. but ive been making the joke about how the knicks will pass on a franchise point guard for lauri markkanen for months. i dont know why im surprised its actually gonna happen.

Ball is going to be a disaster. His whack shot is going to end up in the fifth row... NIGHTLY. He's no longer going to be able to rely on his athleticism to play what defense he did at UCLA. He is going to get ABUSED by NBA point guards and ball handlers. And that doesn't even include the insanity spewing from his dad's pie hole.

Sure, it looks funny, but so does Philip Rivers' throw and he's arguably a hall of famer if he retired today.

How about we judge the whole package to include the results instead of focusing only on how it looks?

One wonders if Lavar Ball didn't exist, Slyder wouldn't have such a weird opinion, as it tends to be with a lot of Lonzo haters. News flash, not everyone has that 1960s standard white guy jumper and Ball was a lot more than a scorer (and is hailed for his vision and court awareness). Ball will be good, moreso if the Lakers have some capable shooters, I.E. Ingram developing and whatever lavish worthy spending spree they go on.
