ok funny happenings... 1. houston used their amnesty deal on one of their million power forwards. unfortunately, he was probably the best one, and a guy [i think] they only gave an extension to last season. this being luis scola. this of course appears to be a precursor to renting dwight for a season. we shall see though.
2. the knicks signed two foreign guys. one who is 35 and is over the hill even for overseas ball. the other who is 28, and went undrafted in like 05. fun times. i do not even remember their names, and im too lazy to go back to where i saw this and find them out. on a positive note, james white is not the worst contracted guy on the team now!
3. the pacers trading for ian mahinmi. i guess they assumed he was white because hes french. i actually dont mind mahinmi as a ball player, he can be alright in spurts. its the fact that the pacers were under the cap, so they couldve just signed mahinmi, instead of giving up darren collison AND dahntay jones to get him. no draft picks coming back, no nothing. ian mahinmi... for darren collison... when you were under the cap anyway. go indy!
They didn't want Collison back. He never regained his job from Hill. Might as well get something for a guy that didn't factor into their plans.

thats the point though. they couldve signed mahinmi without giving up talent, and then sent collison somewhere... anywhere... for something more. a protected 1st rounder, an autographed kobe bryant card, frederic weis. you couldve gotten mahinmi, and something else for collison.

Man, it's like the Dodgers are the NY Knicks of baseball. Our teams always end up with the wrong guy to be the franchise player (Kevin Brown was to Randy Johnson as Melo is to LeBron), have a hard-on for legends when they're way past their primes (Greg Maddux/Jason Kidd), have an embarrassing history of overpaying middling veterans who we're begging to be waived midway through the shitty contract, and worst of all, every team in our division has made it to the championship since ours last did. [edit: forgetting the Toronto Raptors exist]
