Markakis out 3-4 weeks

Nick Markakis broke the hamate bone in his right hand and will undergo surgery Friday morning.
Markakis originally suffered the injury on a slide into second base 7-10 days ago, but the complete break occurred when he was swinging the bat Tuesday night. He'll be sidelined for around three to four weeks, which likely rules him out for most of June. Xavier Avery is a potential replacement in right field, but Lew Ford, Jai Miller and Jamie Hoffman will also likely be considered.

Big blow to the first place O's! Markakis had 8 HR and 26 RBI while playing a good RF so he will be missed but thankfully it's only for a month. I am liking seeing the O's at the top of the AL East!

Most casual non-Twins fans won't remember Lew, but Lew had a pretty awesome first full season and even got MVP votes (back in 2004). Then he disappeared after 2007.
