Chavez is a better option for platoon than the recently released Felix Pie. Pretty solid pickup for a 4th OFer by the O's.Orioles signed OF Endy Chavez to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
He can earn an additional $500,000 in performance-based incentives. It's a nice bargain signing by the O's. The 33-year-old batted .301/.323/.426 with five homers, 27 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .749 OPS over 274 plate appearances with the Rangers this season while playing solid defense at all three outfield positions. Chavez will back up Nick Markakis, Adam Jones and Nolan Reimold.
