Is there any chance for the O's?
Is there any chance for the O's for making the Playoffs this year, now that Orioles are doing fabulous?
I'd say it'll be a really close race, but no. Not this year, maybe if we get an established closer this FA, get a cleanup hitter, and get rid of guys like Payton, Aubrey, Mora, and etc.

We aren't going to contend this year. We could finish above .500, possibly even 90 wins if we get REALLY lucky, but that's it.

Given the brutal nature of our schedule in the games remaining this season, if we get 81 wins, I will be content that they have reached .500, but also will be expecting even more improvement and dare I say a run at the post season next season.

Problem is, we're more likely to regress next year than get better. We have more old guys who are probably going to get worse than we do young guys who will get better.

Excellent point Crimson. So what is the plan to get better? Do you rid yourselves of the old dudes and rebuild? Draft big talent Boras guys, trade old guys for young spects, and watch the future set itself?
Or do you keep the guys you have and hope for the best and beg the owner to buy free agents that will push you over the hump?

The Orioles need to name a manager and stick with him. They've gone from the mercurial Davey Johnson to the embattled Ray Miller, the formerly proven winner Mike Hargrove, the intense Lee Mazzilli, the less intense Sam Perlozzo, and nothing has happened for them.
