"Luis had been with us for a long time and we always liked Luis," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "But it seems like every time the kid had a chance to start or started to do well, he'd end up getting hurt and then struggle after that."

"It's a difficult situation, coming off the bench and expecting to do it, but this is the big leagues and we've had guys do it," Perlozzo said. "Brandon Fahey sits on the bench for three days in a row and will come in and somehow contribute. It's a tough thing for a player to do, but at the same time, if you want to play, you have to be able to do it."

I'm not terribly surprised, Matos has been less than impressive this year and hasn't played to some of the potential I saw in him. But you usually don't see managers flatly point out the flaws in players, even if they were just DFA. Well, unless he's Ozzie Guillen. Interesting quotes from Perlozzo here.
