Chris Ray picked up his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning versus the Yankees on Friday.
Ray still hasn't allowed a run in nine appearances this season, but he made things interesting tonight. Entering to start the ninth in a 6-5 game, Ray walked Derek Jeter with one out and then gave up a single to Gary Sheffield. Ray then struck out Alex Rodriguez, but walked Jason Giambi to load the bases with two outs. Hideki Matsui came to the plate with a chance to be the hero, but Ray struck him out looking to end the game.
Granted, he loaded the bases tonight, but how amazing has Ray been. Seriously, the AL East has a sick set of closers. Rivera, Ryan, Papelbon, and Ray? Very nice...but the O's are getting a bit scary
