De Ja Vu all over again: Good pitching, another loss
Rodrigo Lopez was charged with four runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Red Sox today in his first loss of the season.
Lopez normally pitches well against the Red Sox, going 10-5 with a 3.78 ERA in his career against them. He was doing fine today until the fifth, when Boston strung together four hits to score two runs. Two more runs scored in the sixth, an inning that never should have gotten going. An obvious third strike to J.T. Snow was called a ball, and Lopez let his frustration show the rest of the way. It could have been worse, but John Halama was able to retire David Ortiz after entering with the bases loaded
Rodrigo (and Papelbon really) got screwed by an absolutely miniscule strike zone at times, this could have easily been a 2-1 Sox win, or went the other way. A tough series for a team that typical owns the Sox.
