Activity Level

It seems as if the only discussion that takes place here recently is regarding OOTP. That isn't a bad thing at all, I am just wondering how come the activity level for other topics has gone down so much? I haven't seen Mission, DirtyKash, etc.. for awhile.. I would love to see this place as a whole more active. Is part of the reason why the activity level is slower because we are in the off season? I'm all for getting things rolling like they used to be and am willing to hear others advice/ideas. Maybe I am just still expecting things to be the way they were back when this place was still S3F?

Well.. Judging by the plethora of replies, I would say that this discussion was quite productive.

I think that in spite of it's ridiculously inefficient discussion format and lack of general anonymity most people prefer facebook for sports (and other) discussion on the internet these days.

Many of the old timers have probably moved on and it's hard to attract new people because they like inefficiency, lack of privacy, and the inability to be clear whose post you're responding to.

I haven't really thought about that but that's a good point. So does Mission even come around here at all anymore? Or has he pretty much passed the responsibility on?

Mission still manages the board behind the scenes and is very good at showing up when we approach him if something needs attention, but he basically never posts otherwise. Day to day stuff is typically managed by Kingdom, Porter, and myself.

Bingo. Some articles you see online don't even have comment sections any more. They just encourage you to go discuss it on their Facebook page.

Comments sections on articles is the only medium I hate more for internet discussion than facebook.

At least Facebook is all in one place. And something about article comments sections attracts the worst of the worst.

I read them, that is about it. Just like how I read Facebook ones sometimes, it can get amusing. Don't expect me to join the conversation though. I miss forums.

While actual discussion maybe sparse it appears at least by the "views" listing that many people are at least reading the threads, I guess that is something.
