Braves recalled third baseman Andy Marte from Triple-A Richmond.
We probably won't see Marcus Giles spend any additional time at third base. Marte finished at .275/.372/.506 in 109 games for Richmond. He's not going to get many starts at third base while playing behind Chipper Jones and Wilson Betemit.
Braves recalled catcher Brayan Pena from Triple-A Richmond.
Eddie Perez isn't expected back, so Pena will be the Braves' third catcher this month.
Braves purchased the contract of RHP Jim Brower from Triple-A Richmond.
The Braves told Brower they'd recall him if he accepted an assignment to Richmond after being DFA'd on Aug. 20. He'll resume pitching in middle relief.
Braves recalled RHP Kyle Davies from Triple-A Richmond.
Davies may be needed to make a start or two, but he's expected to pitch in middle relief for now. That makes him a rather weak option in NL-only leagues.
Braves activated outfielder Brian Jordan from the 15-day disabled list.
Jordan will get some starts in left field against lefties, as the Braves' other three options at the position are all left-handed hitters. He'll have to show something this month to be considered for a spot on Atlanta's playoff roster
