Free agent Derek Lowe spent several hours with the Braves on Thursday, and it's believed an offer was made.
The Braves maintained very little interest in Lowe through November and December, even though he looked like a great fit for them all along. It they go to four years and $14 million per season, they could land him.
The Braves have swung and missed on Jake Peavy and A.J. Burnett. They desperately need Lowe if they want to compete in '09. Their rotation of Vazquez, Jurrjens, Reyes, Campillo and ? looks very weak.
