Will Chipper Jones be Hall worthy?

Chipper, now 36, currently has career numbers:

    -2155 hits
    -429 doubles
    -393 homeruns
    -1319 rbis
    -1161 walks vs. 1090 strikeouts
    -.300 plus average
    -.400 plus OBP
    -.950 plus OPS

He has 96 hits, 13 homeruns, and 73 walks in the postseason
Had 8 straight 100 or more RBI seasons. (health issues robbed him of having 11 straight)

He's never been tangled up in a negative controversy.

I think somone who's a Hall of Famer doesn't need a thread like this. It should be obvious. While I think Chipper is good, I just don't see him as a HoFer but he might have a shot.

Chipper Jones is a no doubt candidate for the Hall. He is the only switch-hitter in MLB history to have a .300+ AVG & 300+ HRs.

He don't have any Gold Gloves but he was robbed last season. Chipper had a better Fielding % than Wright. Wright only got it because of the team he plays for which is total BS!

I say yes, but it won't be on the first or even the second ballot. It also depends upon who is on the ballot when he is up for election.

I think with him the fact he DIDNT get caught up in the roids era might garner him some votes that he normally wouldnt get. He might get in just as a message to all.

Re: Will Chipper Jones be Hall worthy?

Also worth noting he's not done putting up numbers. He's fairly injury prone now and is 36 but hasn't showed real signs of slowing down offensively (I think his OPS has been over 1.000 last two seasons even)

I'd like to think he'll make it, just may not be first ballot

Yes, he is a consistent producer at the plate and he seems to gets hits in the clutch, and he is a winner.

Re: Will Chipper Jones be Hall worthy?

While Chipper has been a very good player over his career, he needs to put a few more numbers up before I'd consider him for the HOF. About 5 more seasons of these sorts of stats should do it. Can he stay healthy for that long is the only question in my mind.
Right now, I would say he is not a HOFer, but that could change.
