Give the master a big edge over his protege on this one. Pena had no place in Atlanta's future plans and was out of options, so he was a goner anyway. Cordier, a 2004 second-round pick, has to make a successful comeback from Tommy John surgery, but with his ability to reach the mid-90s with his fastball, the potential is there for him to develop into a middle-of-the-rotation starter or, more likely, a setup man. He doesn't figure to see the majors before 2009.
