Diamondbacks signed RHP Micah Owings to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to spring training. Of course, Owings was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2005 and posted a 4.97 ERA over 45 starts and six relief appearances with the club before he was dealt to the Reds in the Adam Dunn deal. Owings, now 28, had a 5.40 ERA and 35/25 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings last season.
The good news is that the Diamondbacks plan to give him a look at first base, in addition to the mound. About time.
