Brandon Webb (shoulder) has given up on returning as a starter this season, but may try to work his way back as a reliever.
Webb's rehab program has been shut down since last week, when he tried to throw a bullpen session but was unable to loosen up his arm. "I think starting is now out of the question," he said Thursday. "Starting is unrealistic." The right-hander has not pitched in a major league game since April 2009.
Trying to score a paycheck much? Just shut it down man and impress the scouts next year. If Ben Sheets can get $8 million for not pitching in a year and a half, Webb should be able do the same or even more.
