    D'Backs That Didn't Last Long

According to the Arizona Republic, Eric Byrnes will be placed back on the disabled list Tuesday after aggravating his left hamstring injury Monday.
Byrnes came off the DL last week after spending a month on the sidelines recovering from tears in both hamstrings, so this stay on the shelf could be a lengthy one. One option to replace Byrnes is shifting Conor Jackson to left field, which would open up first base for Chad Tracy.
DBacks need someone to play left field regularly. Jackson needs to stay at first where he is having success. The DBacks need a spark and someone adequate in LF. Offense is what they need and its offense they are not getting from LF. It looks like Byrnes will be out for a while and the DBacks sit just one game above .500 and just 3.5 above LA.

Dbacks fans have no credibility to whine about injuries and a lack of offense, considering that the Dodgers have been without Rafael Furcal, who, unlike Byrnsie, was actually hitting the ball very well prior to hitting the DL.

or the Yankees have been without Matsui, Hughes, Damon now, Jeter for some time, and a laundry list of other people.

Byrnes was doing terribly on offense, it's not a loss. His best attribute to any given team is his personality and charisma, which can work on the bench just as well.

    Re: That Didn't Last Long

Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday that he's not optimistic Eric Byrnes (hamstring) will return this season.
Melvin does think that he'll be able to avoid surgery, but thinks that Byrnes might miss the rest of the season even if he chooses non-surgical rehab. Byrnes has only played in 52 games for the Diamondbacks this season, but he's been incredibly disappointing, hitting just .209 with six homers and four stolen bases.
Tough luck for Byrnes! The Dbacks have got to find someone who can play LF and provide offense. They can gladly have Dave Roberts when he comes off the DL but no one is dumb enough to trade for him. Xavier Nady would be a guy I would try and get if I were the Baby Backs.
