Davis threw 4 2/3 innings for AAA Tuscon on Sunday, allowing 2 runs, 6 hits, one walk, and struck out 5. He is slated to make one more rehab start either Friday or Saturday before being activated. With this scheduling, he will most likely take the place of Max Scherzer in the rotation.
Davis had surgery about a month ago to remove a cancerous tumor from his thyroid. While this is a relatively routine and minor surgery he underwent, just the word "cancer" can strike fear into anyone, and I give this guy mad props for his awesome recovery. Great job Doug Davis.
