The Diamondbacks have discussed trading Jorge Julio and his $3.6 million salary.
If Juan Cruz is going to be back in the pen, Julio would be more expendable. The club is already set to carry Jose Valverde, Brandon Lyon, Brandon Medders, Tony Pena and Doug Slaten. Cruz or another failed fifth-starter candidate will be used as a long man. Still, a Julio trade, on top of the previous departures of Luis Vizcaino and Greg Aquino, would leave the team with alarmingly little depth for when injuries strike.
